day one, day two.

IT'S BEEN FOUR LONG YEARS since the last summer olympics and i am over the moon that they are nearly upon us. being a gymnast my whole life, i have lived and breathed this amazing sport. since my body can now only handle the occasional tumbling, coaching gives me my fix. day one of the olympic trials was last night with day two tomorrow. only five spots are available this year for the team and with so much talent, the committee has their word cut out for them picking a team that will take the usa all the way to gold. here's my predictions.

1. jordyn wieber. an obvious first pick. she is the the shoe in, the rock of the team. solid, consistent, and an unbelievable all around gymnast. not to mention her floor music rocks my world.
2. alexandra raisman. she's weak on vault and bars but marta loves her and her beam/floor routines are rock solid & gorgeous. her and wieber will the lead the team.
 3. gabby douglas. ahhh gabby. i first caught on to her when i went to the AT&T cup. she wasn't even part of the meet and unoffically beat wieber for first place. since then she has lit up every competition and her confidence has multiplied. she's peaking at just the right time and her bars will make up for the traditional weakness usa has on that one event.
4. mckayla maroney. has the best vault period. her addition to the team could add up to 8 tenths alone with just her vault. she didn't compete at Visa's due to a fall but she is back and looks as good as ever.
5. and kyla ross.  one of the most gorgeous gymnasts i've ever seen. her lines are amazing. her floor routine breathtaking. she's an all around power house gymnast and deserves her spot.

these are just five out of many at the trials, but my picks for the olympic team. we shall see tomorrow at 9pm who makes the cut... can't wait!
