with hurricane sandy threatening to ruin our halloween,
we all celebrated early. i was the Road Runner...
and pete was Wile E Coyote.
we partied with a ballerina, a penguin, & a naughty housewife
 & danced the night away
(sadly this is only picture pete and i are in together)
my sign was put to good use
& a dream team was put together
i love holidays, love my husband, & love my friends.

all of you east coasters, hope you have all the necessary items for a long haul of a week with this hurricane fast approaching. we've got the generator standing by. this Sandy looks like one bad ass bitch & hoping everyone stays safe & sound. i am off to punch this hangover in the face with waffles & the ManU game by the fire. happy lazy Sunday!

from our friend annie's wedding.

i am thankful my husband is home for the weekend.
- we are on a cleaning frenzy & beginning our bedroom makeover.

i am worried about this hurricane & my husband's safety if it hits his base.
- it is already making the mall, stores, & gas stations a mob scene. bring it on sandy.

i caught myself wishing i was back in college for a day. what easy/fun times they were.
- which makes me miss my best girl friends who are scattered about new england.

i ate way too much cookie dough, cherry pie, & cake.
- but it was so worth it.

i am excited to see my older brother in a few short days after 8 long months.
- be safe driving across country drew!

& i am happy.
- because my day started with coffee + high fives.

let's be honest. this is pretty much everyday. i love cats. you can call me a cat lady & i will take it as a compliment. cats are friggin awesome in my opinion & there is a group of redditors somewhere who are nodding their heads right now. they clean themselves, they hunt, they curl up in the most ridiculous positions & will fit into any size box if it's the last thing they do. & let's not forget the sass. below are two instagram shots of our kitten Stark just living the life, or one of his lives.

over the past week

Monday, October 22, 2012

many dunks trips were made + i had coffee with the gronk
my favorite halloween movie was viewed in pj's by the fire
we went to watch my little brother's last home soccer game
(i can't believe he is graduating high school this year)
our friend suraj proposed to one of my best friends nichole
and she said yes!!
& was then led upstairs to a rooftop party she had no idea about
where all of her favorite people were there to celebrate her special day

this past week was spent enjoying all that fall has to offer (have you tried dunkin donuts white chocolate pumpkin coffee yet? holy smokes it's fabulous) & ended with a trip to NYC for the engagement party of one of my oldest friends nichole. she had absolutely no idea about anything and was in tears when she walked up to the rooftop of her apartment building & saw not only her friends, but her parents & brother as well, who flew in from indiana for the special occasion. it was a night to remember & we can't wait to celebrate with them more this coming weekend!

*quick update: today was spent in new jersey for an appointment with my surgeon that included silver nitrate being put on my wound, so i am simply beat. i still have a couple more months left of healing, but the end is near & i encourage anyone who has tailbone pain to please reach out to me if you have any questions. it is astonishing how many people who suffer daily from tailbone pain & even though many of those people won't resort to surgery, it is still comforting to know & relate to people who go through similar chronic discomfort. on a lighter note,  i hope you all had a great monday. i'm off to catch up on boardwalk empire by the fire :)

slight changes

Friday, October 19, 2012

couple little things happening over here in the web design department. as most of you know, this whole blogging experience has been self taught. it still takes me an hour to change a font color up in here. i paint, so it is very, very frustrating entering code to design things. i would much rather draw right onto the computer screen! so if you catch the blog in those "in between" moments when it looks simply awful, don't worry, just picture me sitting at the computer swearing, eating m&m's, trying to figure out this whole css business.

with that said, one of my dear, dear friends jillian sandrey is in the midst of designing a banner/logo for me & i'm trying out the rough draft design to the right... ya, pretty gorgeous huh. the girl is beyond talented & pictured below.

she not only has her own website here where she designs her own clothing, sketches & paints, but she blogs here, & is part of the team of bridal stylists at the ever so fabulous White Dress by the Shore (who JUST got back from the bridal market in nyc so check out their wedding fun here). the girl does it all. & is the sweetest & drop dead stunning. i love bragging about other people, can you tell?

so i invite you to come along while the blog gets a facelift little by little. please be patient. if i was smart i would have majored in web design, but then i wouldn't have a little blonde talented genius by the name of jill to help me along ;)

currently craving: elizabeth olsen

all images via olsens anonymous

i just watched Martha Marcy May Marlene. and yes, it was disturbing, but i was more mesmerized by elizabeth olsen's performance. the prettiest olsen (in my humble opinion) delivers a riveting portrayal of a girl who gets caught up in an abusive cult & her struggles with "normal" life after she escapes. she is a fabulous actor & stunning. it's no wonder why she is my current girl crush... *don't lie ladies, we all have our favorite celebs who we wish we could be for a day (or forever!) my current list includes: elizabeth, sienna miller, emma watson, & above all, kate beckinsale... die hard underworld fan right here.

with the most gorgeous color hair & those eyebrows, i am promptly bringing these pictures to my hairdresser & laying off the tweezers for the time being. i'll let you know how that goes... happy friday!

 SWEATER: h&m
SKIRT: bcbg
TIGHTS: vera wang
BOOTS: kohl's

scarves are my favorite and i honestly don't even remember where this one is from (oops!) but i love how big it is & the ombre colors. paired with a white sweater that is perfect for fall & spring, along with a heart dotted bcbg skirt i scored at macy's last year... i was ready to run errands with husband all day. the tights are vera wang from kohl's & they are the best. i have them in all different patterns & prints, argyle & floral, they are the prettiest tights i've ever found and obviously priced right since, well, it's kohl's. & i love that store. happy thursday!

if you haven't seen this video you are in for a real treat. this is katelyn ohashi. remember the name. a smidge too young to qualify for these past olympics & i am holding my breath that this one stays healthy because holy smokes... back handspring, back handspring, full. on beam.

training under nastia's father, this gymnast makes me spit out my coffee, even when i'm not drinking any. her flexibility, clean lines, & difficulty.. her floor routine is stunning as well. everyone cross your fingers she stays in good shape for the 2016 olympics because if you thought the fierce five were good... wait til you see the talent that is coming up in the next few years.

my roomie's wedding

aric's face as his bride walked down the aisle + saying their vows
me & husband in our seats + being silly with my college roomies
sunshine beams + pete with minna
the gorgeous lanterns + cape hatteras lighthouse
cutting the cake + the bride & groom's first dance
the stunning fall colored florals + guests signing the painting i made for the "guest book"

this past weekend was my best friend from college mary & aric's destination wedding. & what a wedding it was. located on the bay side of the island cape hatteras in buxton, NC, was the most gorgeous, breathtaking inn that hosted the most adorable wedding i have ever seen. the details, the scenery, & the pure love in the eyes of the bride and groom were enough to make us all weak in the knees. the food was fantastic, the favors were individual vintage tea cups (swoon) & the table numbers weren't numbers at all. as a nod to the trip the two of them took to the Bonnaroo music festival one summer, the tables were called "this" table, "that" table, "our" table, etc... needless to say everyone was having a blast finding "which" table they were sitting at! mary was dressed in a detailed lace wedding gown with little cap sleeves, while the boys were in flip flops & the guests barefoot. the night ended with north carolina tradition of dancing in the grass under the stars. more pictures coming soon (both professional + from our super talented college roommate minna)
