BOY!!!
PANTS: Old Navy black maternity skinny jeans
COAT: DKNY via Marshalls
TOP: Anthropologie
BOOTS: Kohls

how far along: 20 weeks! half way done!
gender: BOY! & we are thrilled :)
complexion is: muchhhhh betterrr. hooray!
hair: finally happy with the color & while it is a bit long, i'm having fun playing with it!
maternity clothes: oh you know, just my awesome Old Navy black skinny jeans that i kind of want to wear forever, even after baby boy is born... & i bought a few more pieces, but haven't needed them yet. i am still not showing much, but i am sure i will pop soon!
energy level: pretty good. not sleeping too well tho... lots of tossing & turning.
food cravings: strawberries & cereal all day.
i miss: beer.
& best moment this week: feeling our boy toss & turn not just inside my stomach, but feeling him when i put my hand there! oh, and purchasing the awesome coat above. my WHOLE wardrobe is still in cali & it is getting cold, cold, cold here. so i'm making due wearing my long anthropologie shirts & my one pair of boots... but i needed a coat badly. i fell in love with this one at Marshalls & scooped it up :)

*i apologize for the quality of photos. my camera is in san fran along with my sanity. bear with me!

PANTS: Gap
TOP: Lucky
SANDALS: Saltwater

summer is putting up a last minute fight to stick around with weather in the 80's today! i got to wear my Saltwaters for probably the last time this year, so i wasn't complaining! the crinkle shirt is old from Lucky, & these red Gap pants i scored on sale last month & have a loose waist, perfect for baby!

how far along: 16 weeks!
gender: don't know yet
complexion is: much better. i feel a little glow these days in my face :)
hair: the same, growing faster than i can manage, but made an appointment to get my roots done next weekend... guess i'll be staying blonde during this pregnancy. which will go well with my ever fading tan!
maternity clothes: aside from my awesome black skinny jeans i got, haven't purchased anything else. but my belly has GROWN in just the past week. it's higher up now, if that makes any sense & i can't suck it in even if i tried.
energy level: really good, aside from a few nights of not so good sleep.
food aversions: bacon still... but i should change this to food cravings! totally craving this raspberry pretzel dip from le gourmet chef. it's the bomb. i bought like 3 jars. that, and KFC. i've literally had it like once in my life, but i've been craving fried chicken like crazy & my older brother is home for his birthday so he's making me homemade KFC tonight. even better!
sleeping: not too bad. my kitty Leo is missing & it has thrown me for a bit of a loop. that and hormonessssss...
i miss: beer. and being able to drink a ton of coffee throughout the day. and i miss going to the gym and killing myself when i have a bad day. my boobs are too sore to do that!
& best moment this week: i THINK i felt the baby move. eeek!

*hair curled in this post with one inch curling iron. start with the underneath & work in sections. tease at the crown & really twist the hair as you wrap around the curler. that will give you the wavy curls instead of curly curls ;) spray to hold!

i love autumn. i love the word autumn (ohhh, baby girl name?) favorite season hands down. it's the time of year where everyone goes outside to enjoy the cool crisp air, the changing leaves, + the apples, pumpkins, & gourds. & who can forget the growing excitement for the best upcoming holidays?? this year i am making a list of things i want to accomplish for these fall months:

1. go apple picking: get all different kinds to make apple sauce, pies, & apple butter
2. go to a fair: taste test all the food, especially the fried dough
3. host a party: this sunday!
4. paint: get back in the swing of things & start a painting for bumble b's nursery
5. make a kick ass halloween costume: finish my 'where the wild things are' max costume
6. get my martha crafts on: felt, acorns, flowers... the projects are endless when you have martha by your side (okay, maybe just her magazine)
7. carve pumpkins in a unique way: get inspired by prints, type, & fabrics to create beautiful pumpkins this year instead of scary ones
8. get a new pair of thick cozy socks: and wear them by the nightly fires
9. take a class: knitting, baking, underwater basket weaving...
10. & go hiking: hit up as many trails as possible.

nursery inspiration!

Thursday, September 26, 2013

it's never too early to start brainstorming about colors, cribs, & mobiles for little babies. lucky for me, i've had a nursery pinterest board going for quite some time. since i don't know whether it is a boy or girl, i have a few pictures for each gender that i'm majorly swooning over. and with my thrifty abilities & love of diy projects, i am confident i can turn a small space into a wonderful & colorful place for baby B to grow.

first up: little baby girl rooms! i am totally digging red and purple together these days & with the addition of that anthropologie toadstool, i would love to have a nursery that was a combo between nature & circus (crazy i know. think hot air balloons + mushrooms.)

...and then the boy rooms: i'm thinking neutrals with pops of color, stripes, & how cool is that bumble bee wallpaper? love.

wardrobe: 15 weeks

JACKET: H&M
DRESS: GAP
TIGHTS + BOOTS: Kohl's

i want to keep up my wardrobe posts so i figured once a week i would do one & incorporate a little question and answer baby post (similar to LittleBabyGarvin's... love her.) i'm not wearing any maternity clothes yet besides a pair of pants i just bought recently... but as a matter of fact i'm not really wearing many of my clothes besides sweats while home in CT. the upstairs of our SF condo has my whole wardrobe gathering dust.. not that most of it would even fit me right now. hello boobs. so today, i wore a perfect staple of a dress from Gap, a fun little jacket from H&M, and of course, had to bust out my Kohl's boots. i'm hoping to just wear a lot of dresses with boots and long tunics while being pregnant through the fall & winter (& holidays! food! score!) and then pop out this chicken nugget early spring!

how far along: 15 weeks
gender: don't know yet, we might not find out.
complexion is: meh. my face is okay, but the whole rest of my body is somehow now covered in little bumps. a common occurrence (so i've read) that supposedly goes away right after birth (it better!)
hair: driving me insane. it's growing faster than i can keep up with so i dyed it darker, then the low lights all faded out, hence the lovely roots. and i keep cutting tons of length off and then a week later it's super long again. i guess i shouldn't be complaining about fast growing hair, but being blonde with fast growing hair sucks... especially for my wallet.
maternity clothes: just purchased my first pair of maternity pants. some black skinny jeans. because walking around with my fly unzipped wasn't too cute.
energy level: much, much more energy than the first 3 months. no more naps.
food aversions: bacon. can't even be around it. i ordered my favorite crispy chicken sandwich from mcdonalds last night and they made it a club & i almost cried over the bacon.
sleeping: great. aside from the (like clockwork) 2 trips to the bathroom every night.
i miss: pete. i'm heading out to cali for a few months after my 18week ultrasound & i can't wait. other than that i miss a TALL glass of blue moon beer with the perfect size orange slice and that first sip that goes down smooth. omg.
mood: a smidge emotional ;) but happy.
& best moment this week: finally showing a little more than the "i just ate a whole pepperoni pizza" bump.

2 years.

time to bring back the blog...

Monday, September 23, 2013

with some big news!
that little guy/girl (loungin with its feet up already) is due early this march & i couldn't be more thrilled.

this came as a total... and i mean total, surprise. pete and i were not planning on having kids until i had more time to heal my spine, we had JUST moved out to cali for goodness sake. but this little peanut will bring us such happiness and love, i cannot wait.
so that's where i've been... in CT... for the past few months seeing all my doctors, figuring out how i am going to have a baby after the past year. i am already considered high risk, but i have a team of people i trust completely, monitoring everything & calming my nerves. the problem has been that there is literally zero information on anyone who has gone through a pregnancy after a coccygectomy (the surgery i had a year ago)... let alone anyone who had the spinal infection and complications i went through. my doctors all did literary searches and came up empty handed. so i'm basically on my own with advice when it comes to anyone else who has been through something similar, which has been tough, but i've had lots of support & so far besides my usual spine pain, i feel great :)

i am so happy to have the blog back, i've missed it so much. and how bout this weather huh?! perfect fall goodness. thank you to all my readers & happy monday!!

over the next few weeks...

i am taking a break from blogging due to personal reasons. i hope to be back sooner than later. xo

cali roots festival

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

the second weekend we spent in california was one for the books. we loaded up the car & packed it to the roof & cruised down to Monterey, CA for a weekend of camping & music at the Cali Roots Festival. it was half roughing it, half blow up air mattresses + running water & electricity. so it was the perfect combo for us girls to come back to after the long days spent at the concert grounds watching performances by: veragroove, slightly stoopid, the expendables, tribal seeds, pacific dub, matisyahu, collie buddz, & more.
my sweet shades i stole from my little brother when we left
our fabulous 3 room tent & our super grill
me & chels rocking the smurf hoodies & no makeup looks all weekend long
husband and i so captivated by the legit Mazda racetrack next to our camping site
nice view huh?
baked beans, burgers, dogs, & i consumed more s'mores than i'd like to admit
& you can't go to a reggae festival without seeing some awesome tattoos!
happy girls!
and happy us!
the main stage
& stock piling bracelets from the weekend.
(the pink one is made by chels here!)
the not too shabby view chelsea & i had of the boys from our side of the table
at lunch in downtown Monterey!
facepaint & adding to my sticker collection!
(i seriously wanted a hairwrap too, but there was a 2 hour wait... & boy am i glad for that because that baby would have been cut out the second i got back home to reality!)
& sunday night's finale concert.

thank you Monterey for hosting us & allowing us all to enjoy your beautiful landscapes & gorgeous weather. & thank you cali roots for a kick ass weekend... see ya next year!
