MY FAVORITE THINGS. these little poems, written by brian andreas, are moving in so many different ways. they touch all aspects of life and the things that people think... some funny, some sad, but all beautifully said. my mother in law gave me this sculpture for my 25th birthday this year and i am beyond in love with it and it's story. here's a few of my absolute favorites:
I like butter & sugar & being alive a whole lot & today I'm kind of
sad because with all the latest studies I figured out I'm going to have to
choose.
You're the strangest person I ever met, she said & I said you too & we
decided we'd know each other a long time.
The clock ticked as loudly as rain on glass. I like trains because they make
sounds that fit their bodies.
As long as the sun shall rise goes the old lovers vow. But we are children of a
scientific age & have no time for poetry. Still, I offer a quiet prayer of
thanks for the sunlight each time I see your face.
We need a letter that's like i & u together for when we're doing stuff like
this, he said & I hugged him & said a lot of people want a letter like
that.
& leonardo barbosa. MEET THE BOYS. two years old. and yes, pete gave them middle names. and yes we use them when they are misbehaving. both rescued from a shelter. both out of their minds with energy. -we love them.
just a little bit ago one of my 3 college roommates nicole (we call each other gnomies) came down to visit us in jersey.. the beauty of where we live, pier village, is that it really is a little village. right outside our front door are shops, restaurants, and my all time favorite: Stewarts. they have the BEST burgers, BEST fries, + all time BEST milkshakes. so needless to say i try to stay away unless its a special occasion. gnomie's visit was by far a special occasion & was so happy to see her pretty face.
even bear, property of rocky mountain chocolate factory, agreed.
with the kittens still sleeping, we snuck out the door friday morning to head to wildwood for my girl's state gymnastics championship. it was a long 5 sessions of meets but the girls did amazing and i couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments.
while i was inside the convention center all day long, pete went exploring the boardwalk + kite festival. even stumbling upon some recent coast guard graduates fresh out of bootcamp. oh memories. thanks wildwood, you crazy place, see ya next time.
